Martin Luther King, Jr Commemorative Program

The IP Stanback Museum and Planetarium was pleased to co-host Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community? , a program commemorating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This event was held in the Barbara A. Vaughn Recital Hall at the Fine Arts Building on the campus of South Carolina State University. The Orangeburg Branch of the NAACP also hosted.

Darci Strickland, news anchor for WLTX in Columbia, SC, presided. Dr. Lonnie Randolph, President of the SC Chapter of the NAACP, was the keynote speaker.

Other speakers included Dr. George E. Cooper, SCSU president, Akeem Brown, 1st Vice President of the Orangeburg Branch NAACP Youth Council, and IP Stanback Museum & Planetarium Director Ellen Zisholtz. The Orangeburg Wilkinson Concert Choir performed an excellent rendition of United We Stand, which received a standing ovation.

In closing, IP Stanback's Exhibitions and Collections Manager Darryl Murphy led the audience in singing We Shall Overcome.
